Kisenosato, Kotooshu attend joint keiko session

Jan. 5th - Yokozuna hopeful, Kisenosato, attended the Nishonoseki Ichimon joint keiko session yesterday at the Kataonami-beya where 11 sekitori were in attendance. The Ozeki fought 21 bouts against the likes of Shohozan and Takekaze where he promptly lost his first two bouts against Shohozan but quickly recovered ending the session with a 17-4 record. After the session, Kisenosato commented, "I need to be more precise in my attack and so sumo that allows me to convey my power."

Also in attendance was Sekiwake Kotooshu who hopes to win 10 bouts at the upcoming Hatsu basho and return to the Ozeki rank. The Bulgarian practiced against sekitori for the first time since injuring his left shoulder at the Kyushu basho causing him to withdraw in week 1 and resulting in his demotion from the Ozeki rank. Kotooshu fought a total of 14 bouts against the likes of Shohozan that included a three bout losing streak to Shohozan early on, but the former Ozeki seemed to regain his form by punishing his opponents with his powerful yotsu attack. Kotoshogiku was noticeably absent from the session due to an injury, but reports form his stable have him participating in the upcoming basho. The Nishonoseki Ichimon will hold joint practice each day through January 7th."
