Kakuryu looks to rebound in May

Yokozuna Kakuryu held a press conference upon the release of the Natsu basho banzuke and indicated that his condition is improving steadily. The Yokozuna withdrew from the Haru basho prior to its start due to a rotator cuff injury in his left shoulder. "I'm getting better day by day, and I'm working hard as if I will participate in the Natsu basho," the Yokozuna explained.  Kakuryu also indicated that he is going through a physical rehabilitation program for the shoulder that includes PRP injections and that he is working on strengthening the joint overall. When asked if he would attend the general keiko session held in front of the Yokozuna Deliberation Council, he replied, "I can't wait to lend my chest to other sekitori rikishi." When asked about the pending birth of his first child due to come during the tournament, he cited, "I feel as if I'm also doing this for my child now."
