NEWS Post Seven profiles sekiwake Fujinokawa, 21, who went 11-4 in his sekiwake debut at Aki, beating ozeki Aonishiki, Kotozakura and Kirishima. The 'yokozuna killer' earned four straight kinboshi from his first yokozuna matchups, beating Onosato and Hoshoryu in both March and July, a postwar first per the magazine.
'Ozeki? I'm aware of it, but there's no point worrying too much,' he said. Stablemaster Isenoumi credits his fighting spirit, and oyakata rate his pre-basho keiko, including degeiko at Sadogatake with Kotozakura, among the best. 'I might get hurt charging head-first, but then I'll just heal it,' Fujinokawa said.
