Nishonoseki: Hoshoryu's Heavy Keiko a Rare Case; Onosato Looks Settled

Writing for Sponichi, Nishonoseki (ex-yokozuna Kisenosato) hopes both yokozuna close 2026 in a high-level yusho race. He says Hoshoryu's daily degeiko volume in Fukuoka is rare for a top man right before a basho, calming nerves after his layoff, but he flags possible overwork and late-basho stamina as the only concern.

His own yokozuna Onosato entered prep in a good flow after the autumn tour, with Sakaigawa (ex-komusubi Ryogoku) praising his stability in sanban-geiko with Hiradoumi; clear Day 1 against Yoshinofuji and his upward curve should steepen. He also notes Aonishiki's steady double-digit floor, Fujinokawa's sturdier frame, and Asanoyama's right-yotsu form.
