Kataonami: Kyushu Tickets Sold Out in About 50 Minutes
On the eve of Kyushu, about 200 fans attended the public dohyo festival at Fukuoka Kokusai Center. Basho director Kataonami Oyakata (former sekiwake Tamakasuga) said all 15 days of tickets sold out on the first general-sale day — "in about 50 minutes" — and that a 340-day sellout streak dating to the end of Aki brings responsibility to keep the guest experience strong.
He has heard fans ask for tickets at local events and feels that hunger up close. With both yokozuna Onosato and returning Hoshoryu on the card for the year-end meet, he wants the joi to drive a yusho race that sends the year out strong.
