Asanoyama's Ozeki Path Runs Through Aonishiki and Hoshoryu
With Kyushu's Day 1–2 cards set, Asanoyama framed the early draw as a test on the road back toward ozeki: first-meeting Aonishiki on opening day, then Hoshoryu — a 0-5 "oni-mon" — in his first yokozuna bout in 16 tournaments. "Getting worked up doesn't help. Stay calm and fired up," he said.
Takasago-beya's Netflix documentary Dohyo-giwa began streaming on the 1st with Asanoyama's comeback from a torn left ACL among its stories; he hopes global viewers take an interest in the stable and in sumo. In his sixth basho back in makuuchi since the injury, this is his first full joi-oroshi slot: "Finishing without injury matters most. If I wrestle my sumo, the results will follow."
