Shiroguma Out From Day 1 With Ankle Ligament Tear; Mitakeumi Gets Fusensho
West Juryo 9 Shiroguma, 27, of Nishonoseki-beya, withdrew on opening day with a grade 3 tear of the right ankle's lateral ligament. Stablemaster Nishonoseki said the ankle wasn't good coming into Fukuoka and got worse in keiko the day before, adding, 'If he can come back around Day 5 or 6...'
It's his third absence, the first since Aki 2024. Mitakeumi wins his Day 1 bout by default, Daily Sports and Sponichi report.
