Fure-Daiko Drums Roll Through Fukuoka as Kyushu Eve Arrives
On November 7, the day before Kyushu opens, fure-daiko announcement drums sounded through Fukuoka streets after the dohyo festival at Fukuoka Kokusai Center. JSA chairman Hakkaku (former yokozuna Hokutoumi) and association officials prayed for a safe 15 days, then yobidashi took the drums into the city.
Basho director Kataonami Oyakata wants the yokozuna and ozeki to headline a real yusho race and also flagged Kyushu/Okinawa locals such as komusubi Yoshinofuji (Uto, Kumamoto) for extra attention.
