Hoshoryu Hits Career-High Weight Ahead of Kyushu Return
Closing final prep in Itoshima on the 7th, yokozuna Hoshoryu said he is looking forward to the year-end basho and revealed a career-high 153–154 kg after bulking up since rejoining jungyo mid-tour. "The body's in good shape, and I've gotten heavier than before."
On the right knee repaired in late July he was blunt — "It's fine" — and brushed off talk about a first yokozuna yusho in his 11th tournament at the rank. He opens against new komusubi Churanoumi and meets Asanoyama on Day 2.
