Year-End Kyushu: Onosato's Repeat vs Hoshoryu's Restart
The year-end Kyushu basho begins November 8 with eyes on Onosato's chase for a seventh yusho and consecutive titles, and on Hoshoryu's return after three straight absences. Six straight basho have been won at 12-3, so whether anyone can clear 13 wins is another subplot.
The morning dohyo festival was officiated by newly promoted 40th Kimura Shonosuke as chief priest, with Hakkaku and the judges attending and about 200 general spectators watching. Onosato finished prep at Nishonoseki in Nishi-ku, Fukuoka; Hoshoryu did light stretching and shiko at Tatsunami in Itoshima.
