Dohyo Festival: Kataonami Wants Both Yokozuna in the Yusho Hunt
The JSA held Kyushu's dohyo festival on the 7th at Fukuoka Kokusai Center, praying for a safe 15 days. First-year basho director Kataonami Oyakata said the sold-out house is welcome but brings a duty to look after the crowd, and that having both yokozuna — with Hoshoryu back — should lift the room if the joi pushes a real title race.
He also wants Kyushu locals to shine and challenged stableman Tamawashi, back in makuuchi at a Showa-era-oldest 41 years 11 months, to show the same mindset as any young rikishi: respect for the dohyo, fight to the end, never quit.
