Hoshoryu Final Prep: Sleeping Well, Up to 153–154 kg

Ahead of Kyushu's November 8 opener, Hoshoryu did light stretching and shiko in his purple mawashi at Tatsunami's Itoshima heya on the 7th. "I'm just looking forward to it. Year-end basho — I want to push without worsening the injury." He said he did not yet know the next day's opponent and was keeping the focus inward; the card has him against new komusubi Churanoumi on Day 1.

Surgery in late July repaired a partial tear of the right MCL. He sat out all of Aki, rejoined aki jungyo mid-way, and stacked degeiko after arriving in Fukuoka. Weight is up to 153–154 kg — "I've gotten bigger than before" — and he says he is sleeping again. He still seeks a first yusho since his yokozuna debut at last year's Haru.
