New Juryo Ryuho Fired Up to Match Asahifuji

November 3, 2026

Nineteen-year-old Ryuho of Otowayama-beya, also promoted to juryo for the Kyushu basho, visited Tokitsukaze-beya in Shime, Fukuoka on November 3rd and took 20 bouts against wrestlers including former Ozeki Shodai, showing off his favored left-hand-inside grip and front-belt attack. Like Asahifuji, he has climbed the banzuke without a single losing record, and he made no secret of the rivalry: "I want to show just as much fighting spirit and not lose to him."

The stablemate of Ozeki Kirishima has also been preparing for life as a sekitori by practicing his autograph, filling "about 100 pages," and signed for fans who came to watch. His goal for Kyushu is a winning record, "one bout at a time."
