Hakuho flexes muscles at Soken keiko session

Dec. 27th - The Sumo Association held its general keiko session yesterday under the watchful eyes of the Yokozuna Deliberation Council and other Association officials at the main practice room of the Ryogoku Kokugikan. The session was highlighted by Yokozuna Hakuho calling upon Ozeki Kisenosato for seven straight bouts dominated by the Yokozuna, who led with the right arm to the inside. At recent soken sessions, Hakuho has largely focused on hiramaku rikishi turning in uninspiring performances, so when asked today why he singled out Kisenosato he said, "I felt since he is up for promotion that he needed to practice in front of the council." Regarding his own performance he stated, "We still have more than two weeks until day 1, so I hope to remember my fast start in Kyushu and repeat it."

Hitoshi Uchiyama, chairman of the Yokozuna Deliberation Council didn't seem too concerned about Kisenosato's performance commenting, "Regardless of today, we want him to achieve promotion." In other soken keiko news, Sekiwake Kotooshu made an appearance in the keiko room but never entered the dohyo."
